Once on the lake we were on a close reach all the way to the island. Marblehead lighthouse greeted us from the west. We arrived around 4:00 in the evening and had to dock alongside the Casino Marina’s wharf. We were unable to get inside the marina, and experienced a bit of wallowing on the outer wall. But after a wonderful meal at the winery and lots of alcoholic libations, the wallowing was cancelled out by our inebriated swaying and our little ship rocked us gently to sleep.

We spent the first few weekends making some upgrades and hoping for a good weather window. The weekend of July 9th finally provided us with beautiful sailing weather. We arrived at the marina on a Friday afternoon and took a couple of trips around the bay. We finally appear to have a good feel for the boat and were confident that we would be able to go into the lake. Saturday morning proved just perfect, so we headed off to Kelly’s Island.
